Using QI Tools to Make a Difference in H1N1 Flu Immunization Clinics

Have you ever wondered how quality improvement (QI) tools can be used to address a current public health need? Read how the Northern Kentucky Independent District Health Department, with assistance from PHF, used QI tools to improve its H1N1 flu immunization clinics. These same tools can be used by your organization to address current and emerging public health needs.

Ride Out the Recession on TRAIN!

In these tough economic times, states are encouraged to Ride Out the Recession on TRAIN! In 2009, Kentucky saved over $11.4 million by using TRAIN to educate and manage its public health workforce.

TRAIN is currently being offered to states and affiliates for only $25,000. This cost covers the initial year, customization of the portal, two days of small group on-site training, and allows for an unlimited number of users, courses, and providers of training. The “sale” price has been extended through March 8, 2010 and after that time will return to the regular price of $55,000. Take advantage of the TRAIN Sale today and join the world's greatest learning management system!

Resources to Help Prevent MRSA Skin Infections

    Public

Suspected methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) skin infections cause 12 million doctor visits each year. It is important for public health and healthcare workers, parents, educators, and others to know the steps needed to prevent the spread of MRSA. PHF's Learning Resource Center offers a variety of MRSA focused products, including the new MRSA: Skin Infection Signs and Symptoms Patient Brochure. Use the brochure and related materials to educate patients about steps to take to prevent MRSA and the warning signs and symptoms of the infection.
