TRAIN: Preparing Your Public Health Workforce for the Road Ahead |
TRAIN has grown into the nation's largest and most comprehensive learning management system for public health, encompassing a community of 23 states and two national organizations. Whereas an in-state learning management solution may be limited by the scope and reach of its resources, TRAIN continues to burgeon as an increasing number of public health professionals, organizations, states, and course providers come aboard. Today, TRAIN is opening its doors and finding seats for other states and national organizations to join this training community. In addition to meeting the training needs of over a quarter million registered users, TRAIN also provides a return on investments to affiliates (states and organizations who comprise the system). Saving over $3.5 million in training costs for nurses and environmentalists in 2007, Kentucky-TRAIN is able to ensure that Kentucky's public health workforce is prepared to protect the health and safety of its community for a fraction of the original cost. Free Quality Improvement Online Training on Childhood Obesity Now Available on TRAIN |
Preventing childhood obesity has become a critical need for our communities and a major new responsibility for our nation's public health system. While there are emerging evidence-based strategies that can help prevent childhood obesity, the effective application of these strategies and development of new and even better practices will require the use of performance management and quality improvement (QI) techniques - techniques widely used by other sectors to achieve better results. Childhood Obesity: Getting Started for Better Outcomes provides learners with a foundation in performance management and QI concept and exercises to learn public health applications, and gives participants tools and confidence to get started using QI to benefit community health. Developed by PHF and the Delmarva Foundation, this online course is free and available on TRAIN. Funding was provided by the Quality Health Foundation.
