PHF E-News brings you the latest ideas and tools for quality improvement and workforce development in public health.
The January/February 2010 issue of the Journal of Public Health Management Practice (JPHMP) is now available online free of charge through support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. This special issue provides a valuable resource for the public health community to learn more about how quality improvement (QI) and accreditation efforts can help health departments better promote, preserve and protect the health of the public. As public health departments across the country begin to prepare for the launch of the national accreditation program in 2011, the theme of this JPHMP issue is particularly timely and relevant. For over 10 years, PHF has been supporting QI and accreditation efforts to improve the ability of public health departments to keep communities safe and healthy. Visit PHF online for information on our performance and quality improvement training, technical assistance, and consultation services.
"A copy of this book should be on the desk of every public health administrator in the United States." - Lou Rowitz, PhD, University of Illinois at Chicago. Building on the success of our Public Health Memory Jogger, PHF in partnership with the American Society for Quality released The Public Health Quality Improvement Handbook in May 2009. This book includes 28 chapters written by subject matter experts in public health who are successfully meeting client needs, working together to maximize outcomes, and expanding their collaboration with community partners to encourage better health within neighborhoods, counties, and states. There has never been a better time or a more needed one for us to harness the energy, enthusiasm, hard work, and dedication of our public health workforce to make a lasting difference. By effectively using quality improvement tools and techniques, we can and will improve our nation's health. The Handbook is being offered through PHF's online store.
