Start Date: 9/25/2013

End Date: 9/25/2013

A special meeting of the Academic Health Department (AHD) Learning Community will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 1:00-2:30 pm EDT to begin exploring how AHDs can play a role in health reform. Specifically, discussion during the meeting will consider:
  • How AHDs can assist in the education and training of public health workers to better inform vulnerable populations about new health insurance marketplaces
  • Ways AHDs can develop strategies for becoming "players" with Accountable Care Organizations and others at the community level who need to integrate population health into healthcare programs
This conference call meeting will help determine if a subgroup of the AHD Learning Community should be formed to focus on health reform opportunities that can benefit from practice and academic collaboration.

The meeting will be facilitated by Guest Chair Kathy Miner, PhD, Associate Dean for Applied Public Health at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health, and is open to all public health and primary care professionals interested in practice/academic collaboration in the evolving health system environment. Both current and prospective AHD Learning Community members are welcome to attend.
