The Public Health Foundation and Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) held a webinar on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 1-2pm EST introducing the newly revised Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies).

The Core Competencies describe crosscutting or foundational knowledge and skills for all public health professionals. This consensus set of competencies developed by the Council on Linkages was recently revised to ensure these competencies keep pace with the changing realities of public health and continue to meet the needs of public health professionals and organizations.

During this interactive webinar, participants learned about the Core Competencies and how they are being used by public health organizations, changes in the 2021 version of the Core Competencies and how these changes address feedback from the public health community, and resources and tools that can facilitate use of the Core Competencies. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions about the revisions and discuss the impact these revisions may have on use of the Core Competencies within their organizations, as well as to suggest additional resources and tools that would help with integrating the Core Competencies into workforce development efforts.
