The Public Health Foundation (PHF) supports U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week (USAAW), an annual event highlighting efforts to improve antibiotic prescribing and use in communities, in healthcare facilities, and on the farm. This week-long observance, sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will take place November 18-24. A collaboration of CDC, state-based programs, nonprofit partners, and for-profit partners, USAAW raises awareness of the threat of antibiotic resistance and the importance of appropriate antibiotic prescribing and use.

PHF fosters Antibiotic Stewardship Programs in public health and healthcare settings year-round by distributing Be Antibiotics Aware Resources, providing tools such as the Public Health Antibiotic Stewardship Driver Diagram, and offering courses on antimicrobial and antibiotic resistance through TRAIN

PHF is supporting USAAW by:

  • Highlighting U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week on PHF’s website
  • Posting social media messages and participating in the annual Twitter chat
  • Sharing information with stakeholders through e-mail
  • Distributing educational materials and tools to professionals

Participating in USAAW? You can do your part to support this important campaign by distributing the Be Antibiotics Aware Resources that we sell through our online store. Please leave us a comment to tell us about your involvement. Send us a tweet on Twitter or post a message on our Facebook page.
