Overview


Workforce Development in public health is an attempt to improve health outcomes (i.e., healthier people) by enhancing the training, skills, and performance of public health workers.

 


At PHF, we know that a well-prepared public health workforce is the foundation of a healthy community. We are committed to providing the public health field with resources, tools, and services to train the workforce so that it is better positioned to deliver the Essential Public Health Services.  We offer an array of  valuable services, resources, and programs that public health practitioners and academics can use to strengthen the workforce in this dynamic world. They include:

  

  • TRAIN - Our learning management system, TRAIN is the nation's premiere learning resource for professionals who protect the public's health. TRAIN has a robust clearinghouse of on-site training and distance learning opportunities available in local, state, and national jurisdictions. TRAIN houses information on over 24,000 public health courses offered by more than 4,000 providers. Visit www.TRAIN.org to start searching for courses.

 

  • PHF Online Store - Also referred to as the Learning Resource Center, our online store distributes over 300 resources. It provides public health professionals with essential information; quality and affordable materials; one-stop shopping; fast delivery; notification of new materials through our electronic announcement "Hot Off the Press"; on-line ordering on a user-friendly, secure website; multiple toll-free phone lines; and excellent customer service!
