backbone of the public health system; building a new generation of intersectoral partnerships;
requiring accountability from and among all
sectors of the public health system; making evidence the foundation of
decision-making; and enhancing and facilitating communication within the

This
site was developed by the National Library of Medicine to provide public health
professionals timely, convenient access to information resources to aid them in improving
the health of the American public. It is a collaboration of U.S.
government agencies, public health organizations and health sciences
libraries. Main topics include health promotion and health education, literature and
guidelines, health data tools and statistics, grants and
funding, education and training, legislation and policy, conferences and meetings,
finding people, discussion and e-mail lists, and jobs and careers.

For Health Program Development and Management

Formed in 1994 in a unique collaboration with the Maryland Medicaid
program, the Center has grown to address issues that touch upon not only
Medicaid, but also other publicly administered programs such as aging
services, public health, Medicare, and federally funded AIDS
initiatives.
The Center provides expertise in
health care policy analysis and research, and health program design, implementation, and
evaluation.
