Related Categories: Workforce Development

Topic: TRAIN

Date: 3/11/2015

Join the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response Learning Office (OPHPR LO) and the Public Health Foundation (PHF) for a webinar, Training for Results: Preparedness and Emergency Response Core Competency-Based Training, on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM ET. This webinar will focus on the introduction and launch of a living national preparedness training plan on TRAIN, where included trainings will be updated periodically to reflect changes in the preparedness landscape.

The webinar will introduce frontline public health workers to the high-quality, current trainings that have been assigned one or more of the Public Health Preparedness and Response (PHPR) Core Competencies and/or the Public Health Preparedness (PHEP) Capabilities. These competencies and capabilities provide strategic direction, support, and coordination for state, tribal, local, and territorial public health departments to meet training needs and to address gaps in individual competence and organizational capabilities that lead to a stronger, more prepared national public health infrastructure.

Joan Cioffi, Ph.D., Associate Director, and Alyson Richmond, MPH of CDC’s Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response Learning Office and Ilya Plotkin, MA and Erin Bougie, MPH of PHF’s TRAIN Department will provide information regarding the background of the PHPR Core Competencies and PHEP Capabilities, how these core competencies and capabilities can support increased access to high-quality training, the purpose behind creating a national training plan based on the PHPR Core Competencies and PHEP Capabilities, and why TRAIN was chosen as the vehicle for the national training plan. The webinar will also demonstrate how to find and complete the training plan.
