Kick Off the New Year with January Council on Linkages Meeting
Join the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) for its next meeting on January 9, 2015 from 1-3pm EST to get caught up on progress and future plans related to Council on Linkages initiatives. This conference call meeting will provide participants with an update on activities of the Academic Health Department (AHD) Learning Community, including the AHD Mentorship Program, and efforts to disseminate and support implementation of the 2014 Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals. A complete agenda and meeting materials, as well as call-in information, are available on the meeting webpage. Register Today for Upcoming Core Competencies and AHD Learning Community Webinars
Two webinars scheduled for early 2015 will offer opportunities to connect with initiatives of the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages):
- ASPPH Presents: Council on Linkages' Revised Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals - Applying the Core Competencies - Wednesday, January 28, 2015, 2-3pm EST. Cohosted by the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health, this webinar will provide an overview of the 2014 version of the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies), changes made in this version to address feedback from the public health community, and tools available to support use of the Core Competencies. Discussion will highlight how two schools of public health apply the Core Competencies in training and curriculum development.
- Academic Health Department Learning Community Meeting - Tuesday, February 3, 2015, 2-3pm EST. The first meeting of the year for the Academic Health Department Learning Community, this webinar will feature guest speaker Jessica Kronstadt, MPP, from the Public Health Accreditation Board, and will explore opportunities for collaboration between health departments and academic institutions in meeting the standards for voluntary national health department accreditation.

ASPPH-Sponsored 2015 Academic Public Health Caucus Call for Abstracts Now Open - Deadline February 10, 2015
The Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH)-sponsored Academic Public Health Caucus is now accepting abstracts for oral and poster sessions for the 2015 American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting. Please visit the APHA call for abstracts homepage to learn more about submitting an abstract and the Academic Public Health Caucus Call for Abstracts webpage to submit an abstract. The deadline for submission for the Academic Public Health Caucus is Tuesday, February 10, 2015. The caucus sessions provide a valuable venue for public health academicians and practice partners to engage in meaningful discussions focused on public health practice and education. Please help spread the word about the ASPPH-sponsored Academic Public Health Caucus Call for Abstracts by sharing this announcement with academic and practice colleagues and partners, and contact Rachel Eisenstein, ASPPH Program Manager, at reisenstein@aspph.org with any questions about the caucus.
