Council on Linkages Update
March 2021

Greetings!

Below is a Council on Linkages Update for March 2021. Please feel free to share any or all of these opportunities in your organization's newsletter or other communications.

Your Feedback Guiding Revisions to the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals

Over the past five months, hundreds of public health and population health professionals have participated in an open comment period focused on the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies), sharing feedback that will guide the revision of this set of crosscutting competencies. The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) thanks everyone who provided this critical input for shaping the future Core Competencies. As the Council on Linkages starts making revisions, learn more about considerations that will be guiding this work and contact Kathleen Amos at kamos@phf.org with any questions.

Crosswalk of the Core Competencies and Strategic Skills Now Available

Looking to better connect the dots between the Strategic Skills for the Governmental Public Health Workforce (Strategic Skills) and the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies)? A crosswalk is now available that maps the Core Competencies and the Competencies for Population Health Professionals to the Strategic Skills to show the competencies needed to perform specific Strategic Skills. Access the crosswalk today or learn more during a presentation on March 23, 2021 at the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health Annual Meeting. Questions may be shared with Kathleen Amos at kamos@phf.org.
