The Public Health Foundation (PHF) is co-sponsoring a webinar series about the vital role that policy plays in promoting health. The second of five webinars will be held on Thursday December 1, 2011 at 2 pm ET. The webinar, Educating, Advocating, Lobbying—What’s the Difference and What Role Can Health Department Staff Play, will cover the distinction between these 3 activities and explain which activities government employees can legally engage in. Featured on the call will be the former chief legal advisor to the CDC, an expert on lobbying laws, and a former state health department bureau director. At the conclusion of the hour-long webinar, participants will have heard lessons learned from the field and understand how to effectively engage in policy work. You must register to participate in this free webinar.

This webinar series is hosted by the American Public Health Association (APHA) and brought to you through funding from CDC’s National Public Health Improvement Initiative (NPHII) and by a partnership between PHF, APHA, the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), and the National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI).
