Planning for the Academic Health Department (AHD) Learning Community has begun in earnest! An AHD represents a formal affiliation between a health professions school and a state or local health department, joining the academic and practice communities to enhance public health education, research, and service. The AHD Learning Community will enable knowledge exchange and collaboration among those interested in the AHD concept.

An AHD Workgroup was recently established to guide the development of the AHD Learning Community and will begin work in the new year. Our call for Workgroup volunteers has been met with an enthusiastic response, reinforcing our impression of the importance and timeliness of this initiative. The excitement is palpable!
