AHD Webinar Series: Partners for Public Health Pima County Health Department and the University of Arizona (Archived Webinar)

Overview

Academic health department (AHD) partnerships – formal partnerships between health departments and academic institutions – have the potential to enhance the capacity of the organizations involved and offer a variety of benefits.

This archived webinar explores the AHD partnership between the Pima County Health Department in Arizona and the University of Arizona (UArizona) Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. During this webinar, AHD Learning Community members Julia Flannery, BS, Organizational Development Program Manager for the Pima County Health Department, and Emily Waldron, MPH, Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator for the UArizona Zuckerman College of Public Health, shared this success story of an AHD partnership in action. This webinar focused on the approach used to determine collaborative project opportunities, the nuts and bolts of the growing partnership, and how joint expertise contributed to the foundational underpinning of a coordinated pandemic response in the community. Examples of how this AHD partnership played a vital role in community response efforts were shared, and plans for continued collaborations vitalized by the COVID-19 response experiences were highlighted.

This one hour webinar was originally presented in December 2020 as part of the AHD Webinar Series, a webinar series hosted by the AHD Learning Community. Discussion among the presenters and participants that occurred during the live version of the webinar was captured. To learn more:
