Healthy People 2010 Information Access Project

Overview

In 2001, PHF assisted the National Library of Medicine (NLM) in the development of the Healthy People 2010 Information Access Project, which provides easily accessible information on evidence-based strategies related to the Healthy People 2010 objectives.  By clicking on specific search strategies, users may explore PubMed, an NLM database that provides access to over 11 million citations from MEDLINE and additional life science journals.  NLM is continually expanding the available searches to cover objectives in all Healthy People 2010 focus areas.  The focus areas below are a few of the specific search strategies:
Visitors can access many full-text articles online or via "LoansomeDoc" and limit your PubMed search to focus on different age groups, genders, or publication types.  The site includes links to many sites and other related resources, such as relevant Guide to Community Preventive Service.

This collaborative project was designed to provide public health professionals with timely, convenient access to information resources to help them improve the health of the public.  In 2005, PHF conducted a focus group study that analyzed usage data and made recommendations to improvement the site.
