​This table lists strategies to alleviate public health worker shortages were suggested by participants of the January 25, 2005 Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice meeting. It includes links to sample projects, and relevant research from public health as well as other fields. The strategies are organized into four main categories: 1) Overarching Strategies, 2)  Strategies to Recruit Workers, 3) Strategies to Retain Workers, and; 4 Strategies to Train Workers to Best Equip The Current Workforce.
