Workforce Training Needs Assessment - The Ohio State University

Overview

In 2010, the Center for Public Health Practice at The Ohio State University College of Public Health developed a web-based survey to assess workforce training needs of public health professionals at state and local health departments. The survey instrument was based on the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice’s Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies). Using a Likert scale and open-ended responses, the survey has been used by Ohio health departments to assess individual workers' skill levels related to each competency. To learn more about how Ohio is using the Core Competencies for assessing workforce skills and public health competencies, view the Center for Public Health Practice’s presentation.
