The Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) and the Public Health Foundation (PHF) held a virtual town hall meeting on the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies) on February 24, 2021 from 1-2pm EST. The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) is in the process of reviewing and revising the Core Competencies, and this virtual meeting was an opportunity for current and prospective students of public health and other disciplines that contribute to population health to provide feedback on how the Core Competencies can better serve the public health workforce.
During the meeting, an overview of the Core Competencies was provided, the review and revision process was discussed, and participants had a chance to share their thoughts on the Core Competencies with fellow students and the Council on Linkages.
Participants discussed how the Core Competencies can be improved to address changing needs of public health professionals and organizations.
