The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in partnership with the Public Health Foundation’s TRAIN Learning Network, selected 14 public health professionals to participate in the E-Learning Institute (ELI) Fellowship, a six-month fellowship program designed to cultivate the skills of public health training professionals with limited experience designing or developing e-learning products.

The participants, selected from nearly 120 applicants, hail from the following organizations:

  • Indiana State Department of Health
  • Indiana University School of Public Health – Bloomington
  • Kansas Department of Health and Environment
  • Kentucky Department for Public Health
  • Mississippi Public Health Institute (nonprofit)
  • Missouri State Public Health Lab
  • Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services
  • Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (WIC Program)
  • New Mexico Department of Health
  • OhioHealth (nonprofit)
  • Oklahoma State Department of Health
  • Oregon Health Authority (WIC Program)
  • Public Health Agency of Canada
  • Texas Health and Human Services (WIC Program)

The ELI Fellowship empowers education and training professionals with limited experience developing e-learning products to improve their course development skills. Participants create an online training, receive mentoring support from CDC and outside e-learning experts, collaborate with peers, and take part in virtual learning opportunities.

CDC and PHF encourage all those who are interested in enhancing their instructional design skills to:

  • Join the Health Educators and Learning Professionals (HELP) Community of Practice (CoP) on the TRAIN Learning Network. HELP CoP offers monthly educational webinars on a variety of public health topics such as creating interactive e-learning products. Learn how to add the HELP CoP to your TRAIN Learning Network account.
  • Join the TRAIN Course Providers’ Listserv. The listserv is conversational and allows organizations and individuals offering training and educational opportunities through TRAIN to share information and resources, seek advice, and learn from the experiences of other providers part of the TRAIN Learning Network.
  • Review learning products and resources at the CDC Learning Connection.
  • Access instructional design courses such as How to Create Section 508 Compliant E-learning with Lectora on the TRAIN Learning Network.
  • Follow the TRAIN Learning Network on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest for updates on e-learning materials.
  • Sign up for future notifications about the E-Learning Institute Fellowship.
