The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council) is dedicated to creating a process for continuing public health education throughout one’s career. As such, it should be no surprise that one of the Council’s key goals for the next few years involves enhancing public health practice-oriented education and training.
To achieve this end, several activities are underway aimed at helping public health professionals and organizations use the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies). These include: collecting and sharing examples of Core Competencies use; presenting at the NACCHO, NALBOH, and APHA national meetings; integrating the Core Competencies into learning management systems such as TRAIN; and developing tools to assist with Core Competencies use.
