August is National Immunization Awareness Month

National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) is an annual observance held in August to highlight the importance of vaccination for people of all ages. Join PHF during August, and beyond, to encourage everyone to get caught up with routine vaccinations and help those eligible get vaccinated for COVID-19. What Can Health Departments Do to Support Restaurants in Preventing the Spread of COVID-19?

Health department staff, as experts in their communities, can provide important information and guidance to restaurant owners and managers on ways to keep restaurant staff, patrons, their families, and the community safe from COVID-19. Quick and Easy Access to COVID-19 Training

COVID-19-related trainings remain essential as schools and offices manage reopening while the Delta variant continues to spread. Use PHF’s live searches available through the TRAIN Learning Network to access new and updated trainings on COVID-19 vaccinations, contact tracing, and PPE.

For current vaccine storage, handling, administration, and communication trainings, along with trainings specific to the Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccines, access the COVID-19 Vaccination Training Programs for Healthcare Professionals training plan developed by PHF and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
 
 
 
New COVID-19 Contact Tracing Training Available Through the TRAIN Learning Network

The National Network of Disease Intervention Training Centers has launched a series of trainings for public health professionals leading COVID-19 contact tracing programs. Courses include: COVID-19 Case Investigation, COVID-19 Contact Tracing, and COVID-19 Leadership: Best Practices for Team Leads. These trainings are conducted virtually across 2-3 days by live instructors. Register today to build your contact tracing program knowledge and leadership skills.
 
 
 
Mapping the Core Competencies and Revised Essential Public Health Services

The Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies) are designed to reflect the skills needed to deliver the Essential Public Health Services (EPHS). Curious how these competencies relate to the revised EPHS? The Public Health National Center for Innovations (PHNCI) developed a crosswalk mapping the Core Competencies to the revised EPHS to show which competencies contribute to performing each of the services.
