Partnerships: An Essential Piece of the TRAIN Learning Network
In May, more than 75 representatives from various TRAIN Learning Network affiliates and partners came together to share ideas on how to better serve the workforce through partnerships and collaboration within agencies, between organizations, and with community partners. Partnership discussions crossed disciplines ranging from preparedness and emergency response to serving veteran populations and their families. The meeting celebrated the partnerships and collaborations within the TRAIN Learning Network and the impressive results:

  • An individual registers on TRAIN every two minutes.
  • TRAIN learners complete three courses every minute.
  • There are now more than 72,000 courses offered throughout the network.

Every day - together - the partners, content providers, and learners on the TRAIN Learning Network work together to create a competent public health, healthcare, behavioral health, preparedness, emergency response, and population health workforce.
Training Spotlight:

This learning bundle, developed by the Public Health Foundation (PHF), provides frontline professionals with the knowledge to better understand health equity and approaches that can help address related challenges. Course topics include addressing health equity, social determinants of health, engaging across sectors, and health literacy.

This training, developed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, explains how diversity, disparities, and social determinants apply to our work in public health and are essential to understand in order to effectively deliver public health services.
Social Determinants of Health Training Plan is Now Available

Looking to gain a better understanding of the social determinants of health (SDOH)? PHF, through the TRAIN Learning Network, has created a SDOH training plan to help you tackle this important concept. The new SDOH training plan will help you describe the fundamental aspects of SDOH, explain social contexts and effects of SDOH on specific populations, and apply SDOH knowledge to design targeted interventions for improving public health. Ready to get started? Register for the SDOH training plan today and learn at your own pace.

Do you find training plans helpful to accomplish your learning objectives?
PHF can help you to identify courses and design a training plan that will build the skills and increase the capacity within your organization to better serve the community. Training plans are a great way to standardize and measure learning through smart reporting and evaluation. Want to learn more? Contact Patti Abshier at (202)218-4427 or pabshier@phf.org .
