Advancing the public health workforce to achieve organizational excellence
Action SWOT Analysis

Overview

Like the SWOT Analysis, the Action SWOT Analysis tool helps an organization specifically assess its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for action. It then builds on that information to identify a set of clear action steps, moving beyond data gathering. The Action SWOT Analysis can be used in preparing to conduct an agency strategic plan by helping to understand how the organization fits into the external environment. Developed by Public Health Foundation (PHF) Senior Quality Advisor Jack Moran and Performance Improvement Expert Sonja Armbruster, the Action SWOT Analysis can help to build on strengths, mitigate weaknesses, capitalize on opportunities, and prevent future threats. This tool is one of many supplements to the 2012 Public Health Quality Improvement Encyclopedia.
