​​​​An After Action Review (AAR) can help an organization learn from actions taken during an event and make improvements in an organization’s preparedness, response, and recovery. An AAR also can be used during an event to make adjustments and immediate improvements.

Much has been learned throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 After Action Review Toolkit, developed by Mathematica and the Public Health Foundation (PHF), is a free online resource providing guidance, tools, and resources for your organization’s AAR. The toolkit has three sections: Module 1 – Planning the After Action Review; Module 2 – Conducting the After Action Review; and Resources for building resiliency following the After Action Review.

You can leverage this toolkit on your own, but when you work with an external partne​r, you ensure your reviews are thorough and objective.
