Course Spotlight:
"Introduction to Public Health Preparedness for Preparedness Staff (Basics of Public Health Preparedness, Module 1)"
 
Offered by the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, this training covers the main concepts of public health preparedness and provides an overview of the supporting infrastructure at the federal and state level. It is part of a training series designed for local public health preparedness staff.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain four types of public health threats
  • Describe the federal preparedness structure
  • Describe the Public Health Emergency Preparedness capabilities and how they are to be used
  • Explain federal and state preparedness funding resources

  1. Earn continuing education credits for professional licensure. In the TRAIN course catalog, use the 'Search by Credit Type' feature to find courses that offer specific continuing education credits for your profession.

  2. Store your entire professional transcript. Easily add courses completed and certificates earned outside of the TRAIN Learning Network right on your transcript by visiting 'Your Learning.'

  3. Find in person courses via the calendar. The new calendar feature allows you to browse or search for training opportunities that are convenient for you.

  4. Bookmark courses for later. Interested in a course, but don't have time to take it now? Select 'Save for Later' to add it to your learning record as a reminder to take it in the future.

 

 
Collection of Resources Supporting High Quality Training Grows with Launch of Repository of Evaluation Tools
 
PHF adds one more resource to a growing collection of materials for developing, accessing, and evaluating public health training with the Evaluating Emergency Preparedness and Response Trainings: A Knowledge Repository. Built in collaboration with the CDC's Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response (OPHPR ), this online repository provides one-stop access to evaluation tools developed by the PERLCs . It is a guide and framework to promote evidence-based evaluations of trainings and learning products, with a particular focus on emergency preparedness and response, and measure their impact toward improving workforce readiness. Explore the Repository and other resources to support high quality training efforts .
